In general, clays are soft, fine-grained mineral substances. While the properties of each one varies, they're most commonly used in skincare because of their absorption properties. Clay pulls excess oil from the skin so it feels clean and refreshed.
Depending on your skin type, and current condition of your skin one clay may be better suited for you than another.
Bentonite Clay - is created from volcanic ash. The US is the top producer, with much of it coming from Wyoming. It's great for shaving soaps because it helps the razor glide over the skin. Bentonite clay is able to absorb more than its mass in water, so it's a good option for oily skin.
Kaolin Clay - is very fine, so it's easy to incorporate into projects like cosmetics, soap, bath bombs, and more. It can come in a variety of colors - the most common is off-white. It's great for those with dry or sensitive skin because it doesn't absorb as much liquid as other clays.
Fuller's Earth Clay - Multani Mitti is also one of the earliest substances to be used as a beauty mask. Multani mitti is said to make your skin radiant and appealing by reducing the appearance of blemishes and acne scars. On the other hand, it deep cleans the pores, reducing the look of black heads and whiteheads. Deep cleansing with Multani Mitti helps to remove impurities and sloughs off dead skin cells, leaving your skin feeling refreshing with a glowing complexion! This allows the skin to breathe and absorb moisturizing cream more easily into the skin.
Sea Clay - originates from mud laid under the sea millions of years ago. It has a green, grayish color. It's commonly used in face masks to cleanse the skin. Sea clay works well for normal to oily skin.
Australian Beige Clay - can be used to cleanse the body and face, absorbing and removing impurities. It is said to invigorating, and may possibly help reduce the look of cellulite and provides a toned, refreshed and youthful glow. It is suitable for both dry and oily skin types.
Brazilian Green Clay - a green clay mineral, traditionally this green clay has been suggested for oily skin. Benefits: removes impurities (pollutants, excess sebum, sweat waxes) promotes skin and hair balance without dehydrating.

There are five types of healthy skin: normal, dry, oily, combination (both oily and dry skin), and sensitive. Below, we describe the main characteristics of each type of skin.
Normal skin is neither too dry nor too oily. It has a regular texture, no imperfections, and a clean, soft appearance and does not need special care.
Sensitive skin is more prone to react to stimuli to which normal skin does not respond. It is fragile skin, usually accompanied by feelings of discomfort, such as heat, tightness, redness, or itching. It is delicate skin that needs more care to fight dryness, roughness, and its usual appearance. Sometimes, it is referred to as irritated skin instead of sensitive skin.
In many cases, Dry skin is caused by external factors such as the weather, low air humidity, and immersion in hot water, and it is usually temporary. However, for some people, it may occur more often and even be a lifelong condition. Since dry skin can crack, leaving it more exposed to bacteria. In general, this is not serious, and it may cause other skin disorders, such as eczema, or be more prone to infections if not properly managed.
Dry skin signs and symptoms may vary depending on different factors such as age, health status, or their cause. A feeling of tightness and roughness generally characterizes it, and it may also acquire an ashy gray color with desquamation, itching, redness, and small cracks. Cracked skin is usually observed in dehydrated skin and presents small cracks, which may be more profound and even bleed in more severe cases.
Oily skin has a porous, humid, and bright appearance. Excessive fat production by sebaceous glands causes it and is usually determined by genetic and hormonal causes. It is frequent in adolescents and young people under 30 years old and traditionally related to the occurrence of acne
.
Combination Skin is based on its location, and it presents characteristics of both dry and oily skin since the distribution of sebaceous and sweat glands is not homogeneous. The area with more oil is usually the T- zone (forehead, nose, and chin), while the skin on the cheeks is normal or dry.
Herbal infusions are the best way to incorporate natural ingredients into your bath and body products. Here at Adjourn4U, we recommend using only dried herbs and powders. Using fresh herbs requires extra preparation with multiple acid washes to prevent the risk of botulism contamination, and dried herbs and powders do not run the risk of such disease. There are three basic ways to infuse oils, cold method, solar method, and heat method.
Cold Method
Cold infusions are made by placing the herbs in a Mason jar and covering them with oil. Set the oil in a cool, dry place for 4-8 weeks. Make sure to shake the jar 1-2 x per day.
Solar Method
Solar infusions are made the same way as cold infusions, but they are left on a kitchen windowsill for 2-4 weeks. You can place the jar in a brown bag to prevent the solar bleaching of natural colors.
Heat Method – Adjourn4U choice method
The slow cooker heat-induced method is our favorite way to infuse dried natural powders and herbs. For this method, fill mason jars with oil, add herbal powder or botanicals, turn the slow cooker to the warm setting, approximately 100º-120ºF, and keep on warm for 3-5 hours. The slower and lower you infuse the oils, the better they will turn out.
Here at Adjourn4U, we use all variations of size and color of the different salts to detoxify the body and reduce inflammation in eczema, psoriasis, and a pain reducer for arthritis and rheumatism.
Himalayan Salt
Pink Himalayan sea salt, aka Jurassic Sea Salt, from super fine to coarse. The Himalayan salts are full of 84 valuable trace minerals, giving them a natural pink coloring that makes them a perfect option for an attractive option for drawing out those nasty toxins.
Hawaiian Sea Salt
Hawaiian sea salt is praised for its high mineral content and rich flavor and has gained popularity worldwide. Like any other sea salt, Hawaiian salt is harvested from the ocean, but the last rounds of drying are completed in beds dug into lava. The lava can be brick-red to black in color, so you'll see both “red Hawaiian salt” and “black Hawaiian salt” on the market. These can also be called “volcanic” or “clay” salt. We use Red Alaea sea salt in our bath salts soaks because Red Alaea salt has a long-standing history of spiritual purification and healing power.
Dead Sea Seat
Dead Sea salt is of the highest quality and is best for therapeutic use such as relaxation. Dead Sea salt is salt from the Dead Sea in Israel, the saltiest and deepest lake in the world. Dead Sea Salt has been known for its healing properties since Biblical times. It has been used to treat various skin conditions, such as psoriasis, due to solar ultraviolet radiation found in the Dead Sea.
Epsom Salt
Who knew it wasn’t salt?
Epsom salt is a pure mineral compound of magnesium sulfate in crystal form, so it looks an awful lot like salt. But it has no sodium chloride, which is what salt is. Even though it isn't salt, we don't deny the many time-proven benefits of Epsom Salt. Many people are magnesium deficient, which can be blamed for several maladies, including heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, arthritis, joint pain, digestive problems, and chronic fatigue. The benefits focus on reducing inflammation, and inflammation is the root of most evil things in health. Magnesium helps lower inflammation, improving skin health, function, and appearance—like blisters. Epsom salt is a crucial ingredient in all of our bath salts. .
